Johnny Grant, OFFICIAL BIO: 2006 Community Service Award
Johnny Grant will be always remembered as the “go to” guy in Tinseltown. His passing represents the end of an era. As recently as December of 2007, Johnny was on his final USO trip to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was there to be Grand Marshall of the Christmas light parade. He did this for free, as he always did, at the request of the Joint Task Force Command. Johnny’s love for the military was exceeded only by his love for Hollywood. He was a bridge to both the past and the future of the most glamorous city on earth. The 2008 Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards are proud to dedicate this year’s event to the memory of Johnny Grant. May God give rest to his eternal soul.
One of the last “old school” Hollywood icons, Johnny Grant is still the man you need to get your official Tinseltown ” stamp of approval “, if you are looking to succeed in the toughest business in the world. Johnny Grant has set a world record for so many things. His support of the U.S.O. mission for the military is perhaps his best known achievement. You want to see some star power? Watch this video!

Stimulus funding at Stanford School of Medicine
With the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the Congress provided $8.2 billion to the National Institutes of Health, the federal agency that funds much of the nation’s medical research, for grants to scientists at Stanford University School of Medicine and its peer institutions across the country. The NIH projects that the stimulus money will create and save some 50,000 jobs, nationwide, including some 5,000 for summer jobs for high school and college students and educators. Read more about the stimulus.
The School of Medicine is using its awards from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to search for cures for cancer, develop stem cell therapies and gain new insights into the causes of heart disease. To date, the School of Medicine has received 134 stimulus grants totaling about $86 million. We encourage you to review these pages to see examples of how stimulus dollars are advancing human knowledge, helping the economy, and improving human health.
